Not every screen is about privacy. Garden and outdoor screens define a space, hide the parts of a yard nobody wants to look at, filter afternoon sun off a west-facing deck, and cut wind through an exposed corner.
Common uses are screening bins, sheds, air conditioning units and pool pumps, dividing a garden into zones without building a wall, giving climbing plants something to grow up, and creating a backdrop that makes planting read as deliberate rather than accidental.
Batten panels are usually the better choice outdoors, because the gaps let air move through instead of turning the screen into a sail. On an exposed Melbourne site a solid panel in the wrong position takes a lot of load.
Recycled composite is worth considering for anything at ground level or near garden beds, since it handles soil contact and moisture without the maintenance a hardwood would need in the same position. Where the screen is a feature in its own right, hardwood gives warmth and grain that composite cannot match.
The same panels also work as decorative and architectural screening. Consistent 42mm x 19mm battens throw shadow lines that shift through the day, which suits feature walls, entry statements and facade detailing against render or brick. Note this is a linear look rather than a patterned one, so if you are after laser cut panels with a motif cut through them, this is not that product.
All panels are made to order in Melbourne, 900mm wide, in heights from 1200mm to 3000mm.
