Merbau is our most popular screening timber and the best value hardwood in the range. A Class 2 hardwood, naturally resistant to rot and insect attack, and with minimal maintenance you can expect at least 25 years of service outdoors. The colour is a warm red-brown when new, deepening as it weathers. Its strength and stability are what make it suit exterior use: a merbau screen holds its line rather than cupping or twisting the way softer timbers can. Panels start at $158.

Spotted gum is a premium Australian hardwood, grown and milled here rather than imported. Distinctive grain with colour running from pale honey through to rich brown, often within the same panel. Tannin bleed is minimal, which matters if the screen sits above light-coloured paving or render where staining would show.

Silvertop ash is locally grown and widely used across Victoria. Paler than merbau, with a fine even grain, and it offers the widest size range in our hardwood lineup. That makes it the practical choice when a screen needs to fill an unusual opening.

All hardwoods benefit from oiling or sealing early, which holds colour and adds considerably to their life. Left alone they weather to silver-grey, which some people prefer.

Recycled composite is made from sawdust and recycled plastic. It will not warp, split, fade or bleed tannin down a wall. It never needs oiling at any point. Because moisture does not affect it the way it affects timber, it handles positions that would shorten a hardwood’s life, including garden beds, soil contact and pool surrounds. Four colours: black, white, monument and a natural timber look. From $192.

Every panel is made to order in Melbourne, in both batten and flat profiles, 900mm wide, in heights from 1200mm to 3000mm.
